Getting Going....Gear

In Colorado we’re lucky enough to have an early start to the season. This year, Arapahoe Basin opened on Oct 13 and Loveland opened the day after. We’ve had enough snow that Wolf Creek will have its earliest opening ever this Friday. It’s amazing and I hope it bodes well.
But all this resort activity has me scrambling to get my season planned. I don’t know if other people do this, but I think it’s important to enter a season with some goals and plans: Where do you want to go? What do you want from the season? What do you hope to achieve? How will you get ready?
Since I’m feeling a little bit behind schedule, this week and next I’m going to talk about getting ready.
Last year I kicked the season off by going to a few demo days and I think I’ll do the same this year. It not only helped me choose the skis I would eventually buy, it helped me get into the right mindset. I recommend it to anyone who needs a nudge—get up and ski on someone else’s skis for a day—it helps focus the mind and it’s very interesting to compare the different skis and boards.
I’ll gather as many more as I can, but here’s a few upcoming days here in Colorado:
| Loveland | Nov 11 | Christy Sports Demo Day |
| Loveland | Nov 12 | Never Summer Demo Day |
| Loveland | Nov 18-19 | Colorado Ski and Golf Demo Days |
| Keystone | Dec 1-2 | WinterFall Demo Days |
| Copper Mountain | Nov 18 | Snowboard Demo Day |
| Copper Mountain | Nov 25 | Telemark Demo Day |
| Copper Mountain | Nov 26 | Burton Demo |
| Copper Mountain | Nov 3 - 5 | Lift Off Opening Weekend |
| Powderhorn | Dec 16 | K2 & Salomon Demo Day |
