Note to Self: Get Off Your Ass

Last spring I diligently tracked and noted locations and times for buying a Vail Resorts Colorado Pass. When the first deadline passed, but was extended, I noted it here and did my public service by reminding readers about the impending deadline.

Of course, the day after the second deadline had passed, I looked at my calendar and realized I’d missed it, and thus began much self-flagellation.

So, here again is the opportunity for renewers and never-befores to obtain their Colorado Pass. This really is an awesome deal—at $85 a pop, it pays for itself in under five visits to Vail alone.

The details, straight from the Vail Resorts Pass Sales site:

I guess it’s getting to be that time of year again where I have to decide how much I can tolerate I-70. If I can tolerate ski traffic and the 5+ hours of driving per ski day, then I’ll spend the dough on the Colorado Pass. If I decide that I can live without the joy of many lift assisted jaunts through the resort powder in order to save my automotive sanity, then I go the backcountry route.

I suspect that I’ll try to do what I did last year

  • Backcountry as much as possible
  • Try to go to resorts that I haven’t been to yet (Crested Butte, Wolf Creek, some stuff in Utah…)
  • Go to Summit Country when the above doesn’t work out

If I decide to take up tele this year, maybe getting a resort pass will be good because I can get a lot of practice.
